Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch was born in Cornwall, which he returned to after university and a short stint as a journalist. Quiller-Couch is best known for his anthologies of English verse, such as the Oxford book of English verse and a number of novels including; Dead man's rock (1887), The ship of stars (1899), and Vigil of Venus (1912).

A small collection of letters from Quiller-Couch to his friendand colleague, Gerald Bullett, regarding Bullett's poetry and career in academia.
