Literary and social club formed on December 15, 1846. General goal of engaging in social and literary activities in order to uplift its members. Meetings were held at the homes of the women in the group.
Minutes and constitution of the Amaranthin Society - a literary and social club in 19th century Philadelphia. The club membership was limited to twenty-four. Activities included a short reading from a selected list. General questions on etiquette and social norms were also answered.
