Overview and metadata sections

Dr. John Beans Carrell was born in 1850 and died at 100 years. In 1946 he was honored by Sons of American Revolution with the Distinguished Service Medal. He was instrumental in having laws passed for the licensing of physicians and RN titles awarded to licensed nurses. A friend of the Union Library of Hatboro, his home was on York Road in Hatboro, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.

This collection is comprised of five volumes of newspaper clippings scrapbooks on Hatboro, compiled by Dr. J. B. Carrell, circa 1920-1960s. Most of the scrapbooks have been indexed.

Gift of Carrell family, circa 1950.

In spring of 1956, the Union Library of Hatboro Board of Directors asked Latta Pinkerton (a member of the Board) to organize Dr Carrell's newspaper clippings into a scrapbook. This would become the 3rd volume of Carrell scrapbooks (10/56). The other volumes were completed and donated by Dr. Carrell or his family.
