Items included in this collection are of the glass plate negative format or the "Woodburytype" lantern slides. Subject matter covered includes the Pennypack region, RittenhouseTown, Fairmount Park races, and East and West Fairmount Park- all circa the late 19th Century.

This collection is divided into four series based on origin, subject matter and format- The Edward and William Wharton Smith Collection, RittenhouseTown images, Fairmount Park Races images, and Woodbury Lantern Slides.
