Overview and metadata sections
The Division of Small Chemical Businesses was begun to address a perceived lack of industry influence over legislation governing chemical enterprises. Initially it was formed as the Joint Board-Council Committee on Chemistry and Public Affairs (CCPA). Spearheaded by the work of the Columbus Local Section of the ACS, it was decided by March 1978 to proceed toward the creation of an ACS division with the aim of 2aiding the development of our Countrys industries.3 By June of that year a Small Chemical Business Committee (SCBC) was being formed and a symposium entitled 2Concerns of Developing Chemical Businesses3 was held in September with the result that a Probationary Division of Small Chemical Businesses was approved by the ACS Committee on Divisional Activities. In August 1980 the ACS Council voted to grant permanent status to the Division of Small Chemical Businesses.
