Perkin-Elmer was a leading manufacturer of analytical instrumentation, principally in the fields of spectroscopy, gas chromatography and atomic absorption spectroscopy. The firm was founded in 1937 by Richard S. Perkin and Charles W. Elmer.

Included in this collection is brief illustrated history of the firm by then president Horace G. McDonell and several pieces by and about John G. Atwood, Senior Scientist, Instruments Group at the corporation.
