Overview and metadata sections

A meeting for worship known as "Tacony" was established in 1683 by Philadelphia Quarterly Meeting; it became part of a monthly meeting along with Poetquesink [Byberry] Meeting in 1683. From 1685 to 1805, this meeting was known as "Oxford"; in 1805, its name was changed to "Frankford." It became part of the Frankford Monthly Meeting in 1816. The Hicksite preparative meeting absorbed Germantown Preparative Meeting and was transferred to Green Street Monthly Meeting (H) in 1827. This preparative meeting was discontinued in 1876. An indulged meeting at Frankford under the care of Green Street Monthly Meeting (variously "Frankford Friends Meeting, Waln Street," "Frankford Preparative Meeting," and "Frankford Particular Meeting") was granted full Monthly Meeting status by Green Street Monthly Meeting and Philadelphia Quarterly Meeting in 1999, when the name was changed to Unity Monthly Meeting, Frankford. It was an active meeting until 2023.

Records include: one folder of miscellaneous materials. The bulk of material related to what is now Unity Monthly Meeting is part of the Green Street Monthly Meeting collection from its time under Green Street's care. Additional material is in the Frankford Preparative Meeting collection.
