Overview and metadata sections
An indulged meeting was established at Spruce Street by Philadelphia Monthly Meeting (Hicksite) in 1832; in 1833, the meeting for worship and a preparative meeting were established as part of Spruce Street Monthly Meeting by Philadelphia Quarterly Meeting (Hicksite). The preparative meeting was discontinued in 1894; the meeting for worship was discontinued in 1902.
Records of the Hicksite preparative meeting include: Minutes of the men's meeting and joint sessions, 1867-1894, and minutes of the women's meeting, 1843-1893.

Minute book of the men's meeting, 1867-1892, and minute book of joint sessions, 1893-1894. Minute book for 1893-1894 had been used to record women's minutes, 1892-1893. v. 1867-92 accompanied by: pertinent items removed from minute book and placed in acid-free cover. Label on cover of v. 1893-1894 reads: Spruce Street Preparative Meeting of Women Friends, 1892-1893.
Joint sessions began on 9mo4, 1893.
