Overview and metadata sections

Northwest Fork Monthly Meeting was established in 1800. In 1847 the Meeting purchased land in Dorchester County, Maryland to construct a meeting house.

According to Thomas C. Hill, Northwest Fork began as a Nicholite group in 1774 before joining with the Quakers under Third Haven Monthly Meeting as a Preparative Meeting in 1798. Its Preparative Meetings included Northwest Fork, Pine Grove, and Preston, but Pine Grove was laid down in 1891 leaving just two preparatives. Hill's research shows additional subordinate groups of Centre and Tuckahoe Neck.

Northwest Fork, like the rest of the Southern Quarter, remained with the Hicksite Branch in the 1828 Separation, and was laid down in 1946.

Two items from Northwest Fork Monthly Meeting: a 1847 deed and a 1899 letter to Philadelphia Yearly Meeting's Representative Committee.

Found in Sadsbury Monthly Meeting Records; deposit by Philadelphia Yearly Meeting.
