Overview and metadata sections
Muncy Monthly Meeting was established in 1799 by Philadelphia Quarterly Meeting out of Catawissa Monthly Meeting. At the time of the Hicksite Separation --which in this area of Pennsylvania did not occur until 1829/30--the meeting was divided into Hicksite and Orthodox branches.
The Hicksite monthly meeting was transferred to Fishing Creek Half Yearly Meeting in 1834, and in 1855, its name was changed to Fishing Creek Monthly Meeting of Friends held at Millville. In 1893, the meeting dropped "Fishing Creek" from its name and adopted the name "Monthly Meeting of Friends held at Millville, Pa." Millville is currently an active monthly meeting.
The Orthodox meeting was united with Millville-Muncy [Upper Susquehanna] Quarterly Meeting in 1955. In 1991/92 Upper Susquehanna reported to Yearly Meeting that the former Muncy Preparative Meeting at Pennsdale would become a monthly meeting and change its name to Pennsdale.
Records include: Hicksite men's minutes, 1830-1906; Hicksite women's minutes, 1830-1876; pre-Separation and Hicksite vital records, including births and deaths, 1788-1923; removals issued, 1897-1907; membership statistics, 1897-1935; School Committee minutes, 1886-1912.

Collection Inventory
At the time of the Separation in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting in 1827-28, pre-Separation vital records were generally retained by the branch with which the recorder was affiliated. Researchers are advised to consider vital records which span this period carefully: in many cases, the meeting without the original records may have reconstructed these records for its membership only, giving the impression that individuals in the other branch were never members.
Register contains the following: Births and deaths, 1788-1923; removals issued, 1897-1907; membership statistical reports, 1897-1935. Includes index. Register begun in 1897.
