Overview and metadata sections
Ellen Starr Brinton, the first Curator of the Swarthmore College Peace Collection (1935-1951), established the Subject File as a way to organize miscellaneous material.
There are two subject file collections:
Subject File #1 refers to material, apoproximately 1952-current, collected since Brinton's time as curator, or material from Subject File #2 which has been incorporated into Subject File #1. Some items are cataloged individually in the library catalog.
Subject File #2 refers to material from approximately 1890-1951, collected by Brinton mostly during her trips to Europe in 1938 and 1947-1948. Most of the items in Subject File #2 are cataloged individually in the library catalog.
This finding aid was first created by SCPC archivists; ArchivesSpace checklist created by Grace Diliberto, April 2022.
