Overview and metadata sections

Founded in 1888 concurrently with the International Council of Women, the National Council of Women of the United States served as a clearinghouse of the national women's organizations. It assembled and exchanged information on the activities of its constituent organizations, which included the American Association of University Women, Medical Women's National Association, National Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs, National Women's Christian Temperance Union, and the Needlework Guild of America.

The Swarthmore College Peace Collection is not the official repository for the records of this organization.
