Founded in 2004 under the name Clergy Leadership Network; principals: Albert M. Pennybacker, chair, Brenda Bartella Peterson, Executive Director; headquartered in Washington, D.C.; mission was to organize progressive clergy of all faiths around election-year issues; changed name to Clergy and Laity Network in 2005 "to reflect that the membership of the group is larger than just ordained clergy. CLN has re-formed as a 501 (c) 4 organization and dropped its status as a 527 group"; sponsored a national bus tour in 2005 "to counter the extreme Christian Right.".

Collection includes correspondence and publicity materials.
