Abstract:

This collection contains pamphlets, articles, and other miscellaneous items addressing a range of health-related topics in Peru, such as domestic violence, substance abuse, sexual and reproductive health, HIV and AIDS, religious health education, and nutrition.

This collection contains pamphlets, articles, and other miscellaneous items addressing a range of health-related topics in Peru, such as domestic violence, substance abuse, sexual and reproductive health, HIV and AIDS, religious health education, and nutrition. The material is produced by a variety of sources, including various Peruvian non-governmental organizations (NGOs), four state institutions (Defensoría del Pueblo, Ministerio de Promoción de la Mujer y del Desarrollo, CEDRO and CONTRADROGAS), and one international organization (CARE). Most of the material included here was produced with the aim of educating local populations about specific health issues.

The material is arranged into six files. Files 1 through 5 cover specific subject areas relating to health. The last file (File 6: Various) consists of documents concerning a range of health topics, such as basic health, community health, hygiene, and infectious disease. Their placement under the subject heading "Various" is simply an organizational tool that was necessary given the limited amount of material within this microfilm on each of these issues; it should not be taken as an indication of the relative importance of the items within the file. All files in this collection are ordered alphabetically by publishing organization; within each publishing organization, the items are ordered chronologically according to year of publication.

The symbol "s.d." is used to indicate a document with no listed date of publication. Brackets around a date indicate that it is an approximation. Undated items are either placed with other undated material at the beginning of the publishing institution's section, or among other material whose dates of publication are approximately the same.
