Overview and metadata sections
Evelyn Cameron (1868–1928) was a Montana-based amateur photographer. Her husband, naturalist Ewen S. Cameron, operated a horse ranch near Terry, Montana. Contemporary sales of her prints helped support Evelyn and her husband within her lifetime, but her work was not celebrated until it was discovered posthumously in the 1970s.
Consists of 15 silver gelatin photographs (most 6.5 x 4 inches, laid on larger boards) of Montana frontier life, including scenery, ranching, and cattle driving. One notable image includes the artist Charles M. Russell (1864-1926), dated 1903. Titles are derived from hand-written captions on the verso when present, or are otherwise supplied by cataloger. Most common abbreviations have been expanded. Additional captions are contained in notes at the file level.
This collection is arranged into one box, first by date when present, and then by title or assigned title thereafter.
