Overview and metadata sections

Ferré, Rosario, 1942-.

Rosario Ferré is a Puerto Rican novelist, short story writer, essayist, and poet. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, in 1938, Ferré graduated Manhattanville College in New York as an English major. In 1985, she received a Masters degree in Spanish and Latin American literature at the University of Puerto Rico, and later earned a PhD from the University of Maryland in 1987. From 1972 to 1975, Ferré edited the literary magazine Zona de carga y descarga, which published works by young Puerto Rican writers. Works by Ferré include Maldito Amor, The Youngest Doll, Las Dos Vecinas: Poemas y Cuentos, and several volumes of essays, including Sitio a Eros.

The collection consists primarily of Ferré's personal correspondence and literary correspondence relating to Zona. Also included are a typescript of her novel Maldito Amor and a comprehensive index of Zona.

No further accruals are expected.
