The collection consists primarily of Furman's letters (1794-1808) to his dry goods business associate, Benjamin Guild, of Pittstown, New Jersey. In addition, there are two documents (1793, 1807) concerning Pittstown property and two letters (1780) by Furman to Capt. Thomas Reading about forage needed by the American army during the Revolutionary War.
