Overview and metadata sections

Anstis, John, 1669-1744

John Anstis (1639-1714) was Registrar of the Archdeaconry Court of Cornwall in Lunna in the parish of St Neot in Cornwall. His son John Anstis (1669-1744) was Garter King-of-Arms from 1719 to 1744 and a heraldic writer.

The collection consists chiefly of documents of John Anstis (1639-1714) and his family. Most of the documents concern property, clothing, and jewelry belonging to and left by Anstis's daughter, Mrs. Mary Hooper, at the time of her death, as well as to expenses incurred while Mary was living will her father during her terminal illness.

Arranged by accession number.

The collection was formed as a result of a Departmental practice of combining into one collection material of various accessions relating to a particular person, family, or subject.

Various AM from 1460 Pyne-Henry to 1529 Pyne-Henry.

For preservation reasons, original analog and digital media may not be read or played back in the reading room. Users may visually inspect physical media but may not remove it from its enclosure. All analog audiovisual media must be digitized to preservation-quality standards prior to use. Audiovisual digitization requests are processed by an approved third-party vendor. Please note, the transfer time required can be as little as several weeks to as long as several months and there may be financial costs associated with the process.
