Willsie

A member of the Princeton Class of 1986, Bruce C. Willsie is president of Labels & Lists of Bellevue, Washington. Willsie's other collecting interests include Ethiopic manuscripts and magic scrolls, historic maps, and nineteenth-century English manuscripts.

The collection consists of an open collection of Ethiopic magic scrolls, chiefly dating from the 18th to 20th centuries, collected by Bruce C. Willise (Princeton Class of 1896). This collection supplements the Ethiopic magic scroll holdings of the Garrett and Princeton Collections. Currently, there are 349 scrolls. Scroll #120 is unassigned.

Gift of Bruce C. Willsie over a number of years in multiple accessions from 2003 to 2013.

The Library has recently cataloged or recataloged its Ethiopic manuscript collections with generous support from the David A. Gardner '69 Magic Project, Princeton University, coordinated by the Council of the Humanities. This collection was cataloged by Professor David L. Appleyard, School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.
