Overview and metadata sections

Wainwright, Alexander D.

A member of the Princeton Class of 1939, Wainwright was an avid bookman and collector. He had a lengthy career at the Princeton University Library, retiring in 1982 as assistant university librarian for collection development. He continued working part-time for the rest of his life in the Dept. of Special Collections as curator of the Morris L. Parrish Collection of Victorian Novelists.

The collection consists of Wainwright's collection of manuscripts, correspondence, drawings, and related material by and about Thomas Wolfe, the American novelist, playwright, and storywriter. The collection contains a selection of Wolfe's papers (writings, correspondence, documents, and drawings), adaptations by others of some of his works, papers relating to Wolfe, and correspondence of Wainwright concerning the collection.

Gift of Alexander D. Wainwright and niece Christine Wainwright.
