Overview and metadata sections
Neilson Abeel (Princeton Class of 1924) was a poet.
The collection consists of selected papers of Abeel (1902-1949, Princeton Class of 1924), including typescript and carbon copies of about 24 poems ("New Jersey Evening," "Gay Head," "Homecoming," etc.); letters by John Finley, Wilson Farrand, Edith Bolling Wilson, and others; and miscellaneous documents, photographs, and printed matter. Also contains papers of Rev. John Neilson Abeel (1769-1812, Princeton Class of 1787). Neilson Abeel is related to but does not appear to be directly descended from John Neilson Abeel.
Placed in the library by Mrs. Neilson Abeel in 1939 and 1954.
The collection was formed as a result of a departmental practice of combining into one collection manuscript material of various accessions relating to a particular author.
Additions (Folders 7-13) given to Princeton by Mr. and Mrs. Neilson Abeel Sr. AM22030, 11628, 11629.

All analog audiovisual media must be digitized to preservation-quality standards prior to use. Audiovisual digitization requests are processed by an approved third-party vendor. Please note, the transfer time required can be as little as several weeks to as long as several months and there may be financial costs associated with the process.
