Overview and metadata sections
The Olden family was a prominent family of New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The collection consists mostly of eighteenth-century correspondence and documents of members of the Olden family of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, including Benjamin Olden, Ephraim Olden, John Olden, and Samuel Olden. The collection contains estate inventories, a partnership agreement, leases, a will, a deed, receipts, and articles of agreement. In addition, there is a copy of a sermon (1769) by Samuel Fotheringill.
Additional accessions include twelve letters (1818-1826) from Hugh B. Ely to his father-in-law, Joseph Olden, about family matters and eight letters (1800-1810), also to Joseph Olden, from Alexander Elmslie chiefly about investments.
