William McElwee Miller was a Presbyterian clergyman, a missionary in Iran from 1919 to 1962, and an author of several books on aspects of Islam and Persian culture.
The collection consists of Miller's articles, correspondence, notes, miscellaneous material, and printed matter. There are articles on Bahaism, correspondence and notes relating to his book The Baha'i Faith (1974), papers relating to the collection of Bābī manuscripts given to Princeton Library, and correspondence between Miller, Cady Allen, William Orick, and Earl Elder about Miller and Elder's translation from the Arabic of Al-kitab al-aqdas (1961). In addition, the collection contains printed matter on Bahaism and Iran.
Arranged in this order: Boxes 1-2--correspondence and miscellaneous material about Al-kitab al-aqdas, The Baha'i Faith, articles and correspondence about Bahaism, and printed matter (1954-1979); Boxes 3-4--additional unsorted articles, correspondence, and printed matter about the Baha'i faith (1931-1979).
