William Couper was an eighteenth-century American tea merchant.
The collection contains correspondence between William Couper and his family, particularly with his brother Samuel, during the years (1831-1844) when he was a tea merchant traveling abroad to Canton, Macao, Edinburgh, and London, as well as to Philadelphia and Newcastle, Delaware. The collection includes miscellaneous documents and an engraving of Couper and one of his brother James.
This collection was the gift of Mrs. Kenneth Gapp in 1967.
