Gilbert Troxell was curator of American literature at Yale University Library during the 1940s.
The collection consists of letters to Troxell from Sinclair Lewis, John O'Hara, and Carlotta Monterey O'Neill, the wife of Eugene O'Neill, discussing the donation of manuscripts to the Sterling Memorial Library at Yale University.
This collection, with the exception of Folder 1 (AM unknown) was donated by Mrs. Gilbert Troxell in 1969 (AM20039).
Folder inventory added by Hilde Creager (2015) in 2012.
