Overview and metadata sections

Cerf, Bennett, 1898-1971.

Co-founder of the New York publisher Random House, Bennett Cerf made regular television appearances on the panel game show What's My Line?

The collection consists of responses from the public to Cerf's appeal (1946) to readers of his "Trade Winds" column in the Saturday Review of Literature on the question of the exclusion of Pound's poetry from an anthology of English and American poetry being published by Random House. The appeal was made in the January 9 issue of SRL , and the results and extracts of the letters were published in the March 16 issue.

Arranged alphabetically by correspondent.

Letters are arranged in alphabetical order, each folder containing a range of names.

The gift of Mr. Robert A. Corrigan in 1968.
