Overview and metadata sections

The Princeton University Wrestling team's first match took place in 1905, the founding year of the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association. The team has won 11 Ivy titles, including the first official Ivy League championship in 1956, and three EIWA titles (in 1911, 1941, and 1978). Jimmy Reed was coach from 1934 to 1964. John Johnston was coach from 1964 to 1994. The Friends of Princeton Wrestling is an alumni group that led the effort to save Princeton Wrestling in the early 1990s. H. Clay McEldowney, Class of 1969, chaired the Friends of Princeton Wrestling during the 1990s and distributed the 50th Anniversary materials in 2017.

The Princeton University Archives Collection on Wrestling includes a video and a booklet produced by the Friends of Princeton Wrestling to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1966-1967 Ivy League Championship.

The booklet includes background information compiled by Jim Bedell, Class of 1968, and photocopies of the "Princeton Wrestling News" from the 1966-67 season, as well as copies of meet results and team photos.

The compiled video includes photos, some clips of matches taken from super 8 film, and interviews.

The order in which these materials came to Princeton has been maintained.
