Overview and metadata sections
Princeton Summer Theater was founded in 1968 by three members of Theatre Intime who sought to continue acting during the summer offseason. The resulting troupe, called Summer Intime, was successful and inspired successive seasons of summer offerings, as well as the formation of a board of trustees to oversee the group. The name of Summer Intime was eventually changed to Princeton Summer Theater, and the summer performances in the Hamilton-Murray Theater remain among the most popular staged at Princeton.
The collection consists of organizational records and promotional materials which document the activities of Princeton Summer Theater dating back to its inception as Summer Intime. Earlier materials such as the group's charter, board meeting minutes, correspondence and financial records primarily document the development of the organization, while later materials such as playbills, press packets, photographs and posters primarily document the group's theatrical productions.
For preservation reasons, original analog and digital media may not be read or played back in the reading room. Users may visually inspect physical media but may not remove it from its enclosure. All analog audiovisual media must be digitized to preservation-quality standards prior to use. Audiovisual digitization requests are processed by an approved third-party vendor. Please note, the transfer time required can be as little as several weeks to as long as several months and there may be financial costs associated with the process. Requests should be directed through the Ask Us Form.
