The Office of the President still holds a small amount of records from the administration of Harold T. Shapiro. The eventual transfer of the remaining records is expected from the Office of the President.

These records were transferred from the Office of the President to the University Archives in periodic installments between July and September of 2001. A later transfer of general files occured in September 2008. Series 25 was added in June, 2016 (AR.2016.040).

Records are closed for 30 years from the date of their creation. Materials older than 30 years that do not pertain to student academic performance, trustee issues, or faculty personnel matters are open. Records pertaining to applications for undergraduate admission found in Subseries 2C: Departments and Series 16: Students are restricted for 75 years from the date of the creation of the record.
