Overview and metadata sections

City of Chester was founded in 1642 and considered the oldest city in Pennsylvania. It is located south of Philadelphia and north of Wilmington, Delaware, along the Delaware River. According to this collection of photographs, in 1925 the old bridge on the 9th Street, trestle-shaped iron or steel, was torn down and replaced by a new reinforced arched concrete bridge. This new bridge is possibly the Chester Creek Bridge, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. It is on US 13 (9th Street) connecting to I-95. It is a concrete arch bridge that was built in 1926, rehabilitated in 1994, and it is still in use. Its Pennsylvania bridge number is: PA 23 0013 0100 1122
