This collection features letters spanning from the fall of 1922 to the summer of 1923, which were sent to a number of recipients. The letters cover a range of subjects including correspondences with various students, and often their parents, regarding poor academic performance. The letters also contain numerous recommendations for Haverford alumni for positions at high schools, other academic institutions and in finance. Included in the letters are a few letter between Palmer and a microscope manufacturing company regarding specific alterations needed to be made to his personal microscope as well as proposed designs for a scientific mechanism, refered to as the "Millikan Oil Drop apparatus." The requirements for admission to Haverford College is also a popular subject in the letters, with Palmer directing the majority of those inquiring to the College's four examination and 15 credit admission policy. A few letters included in the collection are not written by Palmer; however, they provide context for other letters sent by Palmer.

Letters are arranged in chronological order beginning with the one dated September 13, 1922 and ending with the one dated July 16th, 1923. One undated letter is included at the end of the collection.
