Overview and metadata sections
Sons of Africa at Haverford was a student-run organization centered around the experience of African American men on campus. It served as social support for African American men and organized mostly identity-centered events. During the 2019-2020 academic year, the Sons of Africa became known as Black x Brown, whose mission is to "provide academic, social, and emotional support to masculine-identifying people of color in the hopes of fostering a strong drive for achieving personal and academic excellence."
This collection contains documentation of Haverford's Sons of Africa. It includes physical copies the club's history and mission statement. It also includes born-digital material from Sons of Africa, including photographs, descriptions of activities they sponsored, and other organizational materials.
