Deborah Fisher Wharton (1795-1888) was an American Quaker minister, suffragist, and social reformer, as well as one of the founders of Swarthmore College. She was born on October 25, 1795 in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of Samuel Rowland Fisher and Hannah Fisher. In 1817, Wharton married William Wharton, and the couple had ten children: Hannah (1818-1893), Rodman 91820-1854), Sarah Wharton (1821-1866), Charles William (1823-1902), Joseph (1826-1909), Mary (1828-1856), William (1830-1907), Samuel (1832-1843), Anna (1834-1893), and Esther Fisher (1836-1915). Deborah Fisher Wharton died on August 16, 1888 at the age of ninety two.

This collection is comprised of the single volume library catalog of the Wharton family. According to a note in the inside cover, the alphabetical catalog of volumes in Deborah Fisher Wharton's library was recorded by her grandson, William Wharton Hurston.
