The a pamphlet from the collection from 1948 describes the mission of the commite as "to draw together the family of young Friends across America in the knowledge and love of God and Jesus Christ whom He sent. It encourages us as young Friend to commit our lives to God and to witness to the Truth: in our local meetings, in our vocations, by travel, in ministry and in daily relationships with our fellow men." The committee changed its name from American Young Friends Fellowship in 1950 (February 19, 1950 minute 239).
