Sarah Crosland Lindsey (1804-1876) was born in Lancashire in 1804. In 1828, she married Robert Lindsey. She was a Quaker minister, and traveled on a religious visit with her husband from 1857 to 1861. She died in Worcester on Third Month 17, 1876.
This collection is comprised of the five manuscript volumes of selections from Sarah Lindsey's journals. The full title of the manuscripts is "Selections from memorandums by Sarah Lindsey whilst accompany her husband Robert Lindsey on a religious visit to Friends and others in Western Hemisphere including California, Oregon, British Columbia, and the Sandwich Islands, also some of the Meetings of Friends in Australia and Van Van Hierneu Land. For the Use of her Children and Friends." Entries describes travel, places visited, attendance at Quaker meetings, and people met on their travels.
