Caroline Cope Yarnall Hartshorne (1835-1886) was born in 1835. She married Charles Hartshorne on June 8, 1859, and the couple had three children: Mary Weston (b. 1860), Edward Yarnall (b. 1861), and Francis Cope (b. 1868). She died May 28, 1886.
This collection is comprised of the single volume commonplace book of Caroline Cope Yarnall Hartshorne. It includes sketches, postcards, pressed flowers, and poems copied by various friends of Hartshorne, including M.A. Longstreth, S. Longstreth, Susan H. Lloyd, Hannah Whitall Smith, Alfred Cope, M. Newlin, Jane Edge, and Anna Hallowell. Poetry focuses on nature, religion, and friendship.
