Susan (Susanna) Foulke (1781-1842) was born October 11, 1781, the daughter of Amos and Hannah Jones Foulke. She never married. Foulke was an Orthodox Quaker and a member of the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting. She died on February 1, 1842, at age 60.

This collection is comprised of the single, handwritten diary of Susan Foulke. Entries detail Susan's daily life and include prayers, religious reflection, descriptions of visits to friends and family in Philadelphia and Burlington, New Jersey, and births, deaths, and marriages within her family and the Quaker community. Foulke also describes the sermons of Elias Hicks, which she heard at various Meetings.
