Ruthanna Mary Simms, born in 1880, was a Quaker involved in the administration of Five Years Meeting of Friends, Board of Home Missions, Richmond, Indiana, acting as executive secretary at the time of the creation of this collection. In addition to the work she did with education, she had some involvement with Quaker interactions with Native Americans. She published an account of the Quaker work in Oklahoma and wrote a manuscript on the interactions between Quakers and the Osage. Citation for book: Simms, Ruthanna M. This collection consists of letters written in response to a letter by Ruthanna Simms on the subject of the contribution of Christian college students to greater society. All of the letters, including Simms's, were written within a span of three weeks between end of February and beginning of March 1926. The majority of correspondents are officials at Quaker secondary schools and colleges. They proivde a variety of answers to the question Simms posed.
