Cathy Cary was born in Richmond, Indiana, in 1924. Her family moved to Pendle Hill, where her parents served as co-directors. Cary attended Westtown Boarding School and Antioch College, where she studied psychology and occupational therapy. She met her husband, John Richard Cary, at a Quaker Meeting in Baltimore, in the early 1950s. They moved to Haverford, Pennsylvania, where her husband taught German at Haverford College. She died in 2016.
The collection is comprised of a single folder of papers related to Catherine Brinton Cary, and includes a copy of a short book entitled "Ibaraki Here and There," about a trip to Japan; a poem composed on the death of Charles Fisher (1829); and a typed "Chronology of Her Life" by Edith Sharpless.
