Sarah P. Howard was born in 1773. She was a member of the Philadelphia Monthly Meeting. She died November 18, 1848, in Philadelphia.

This collection is comprised of the personal correspondence of the Howard family, as well as a printed genealogy of the Howard family.

The Howard family papers were purchased by Special Collections, Haverford College in 1976 from Timothy Bakken.

Handwritten correspondence between Sarah P. Howard and her daughter Eliza, concerning her studies of philosophy, French, painting and botany. Also included are a typed translation of a letter from J.W. Goethe., as well as a typed letter to Henry J. Cadbury from D. Howard.
