Mary King Swayne (1787-1855) was the wife of Joel Swayne (1774/75-1850), a Quaker missionary in upstate New York from 1798-1800. The Kings were early settlers of Ceres PA, near the New York state border. They also resided in Delaware for a time before settling in Ceres. Joel Swayne was a member of London Grove Monthly Meeting, and was later a member of Woodstown Monthly Meeting in New Jersey
Letters include correspondence with members of the Swayne and King families, mainly covering family updates from various branches of the family, including the English Quaker Mary Thresher.
Letters are arranged in chronological order by sender.
