Overview and metadata sections
Vladimir Sokoloff studied accompanying and chamber music at the Curtis Institute of Music (1929-38) and was a member of the faculty (1938-1993), where he taught vocal repertoire, accompanying, and chamber music, and directed the concert division. As a performer he played piano duets with his wife Eleanor Blum Sokoloff, served at the pianist for the Philadelphia Orchestra (1938-50) and was the accompanist of a number of musicians associated with the school, including Efrem Zimbalist, and the Curtis String Quartet.
