Abstract:
The collection documents Shomate's career as an accompanist of such famed musicians as including Richard Bonelli, Anna Moffo, Kathryn Hinton, Gerard Souzay, Margaret Speaks, Rise Stevens, and Jennie Tourel. Included in the collection are programs, clippings, photographs, and other assorted materials.

James Shomate was a coach and accompanist who studied accompaniment at the Curtis Institute of Music. He graduated in 1939.
