Overview and metadata sections

After Tabuteau's death in 1966 the Rittenhouse Square Committee for the Philadelphia Orchestra established the Marcel Tabuteau Memorial Fund with two aims: fund scholarships and grants-in-aid for talented oboe students and commission a work in his memory to be performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra. The resulting composition, "Trail of Beauty" by David Amram, premiered in 1976 with former Tabutean student John de Lancie (oboe) and Rose Taylor (mezzo-soprano).

The collection is arranged in the following series. Series 1: Scrapbook "Tribute to Tabuteau"; Series 2. Reminiscenses and photos donated by Laila Storch; Series 3: Letters from Marcel and Louise Tabuteau to Jane Hill; Series 4. Letters from Jane Goodwin Pearce-Bauer about her lessons with Marcel Tabuteau.

Original photographs of Tabuteau have been moved to the Photograph Collection.
