Overview and metadata sections
This collection of x-rays was discovered in the Mütter Museum storage area and inventoried in 2006. It was transferred to the Library on September 22, 2016.
All of the x-rays seem to be of specimens found in the Mütter Museum, including the Soap Lady, and fetuses with defects such as spina bifida and anencephaly.
No provenance information could be found; however, many of the envelopes note that the x-rays were taken by Dr. Gerald Conlogue in 1991. It is likely that all of the x-rays were taken by Conlogue as he has written extensively on radiography techniques for specimens and artifacts. Additionally, Conlogue published a paper entitled "Dr. Leidy's soap lady: imaging the past" in 1989. A link to the paper on Research Gate can be found below.
