Overview and metadata sections

The Medical Society of New Haven County, Conn., was established on 5 Jan. 1784 to promote professional intercourse and regulate fees. A Committee of Correspondence was formed later in 1784. The society published a volume of its cases in 1788. After the formation of the Connecticut Medical Society in 1792, the New Haven society met irregularly. Most of its work was carried on by a local section of the state society. In 1798, all the society's property was transferred to the Connecticut Medical Society.

Letter, 1790 July 18, opening communications with College of Physicians of Philadelphia in response to letter of April 1789 and expressing support for an American pharmacopoeia and need for pharmaceutical standards. Signed by Committee of Correspondence, Ebenezer Beardsley, Elnathan Beach, Leverett Hubbard, Eneas Munson, and Samuel Nesbitt.
