Overview and metadata sections
Sarah Hunloke was the maternal aunt of John Newman, first husband of Esther Hewlings, mother of Bishop William White (1748-1836). Her will was dated 1 July 1773; internal evidence suggests she died in either 1773 or early 1774.
The Sarah Hunloke collection was donated to the Historical Collections of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia by Mrs. A. Douglas Oliver, circa 1978.
The collection was processed and catalogued in 1992.
The collection includes a letter signed by Benjamin Chew, Register General for the Probate of Wills, from Philadelphia, dated 28 January 1774, attesting that the will of Sarah Hunloke was proved and administration of her estate committed to William White, and a bill for medical services to Sarah Hunlock [sic], from 1752 to 1773, for which payment was received by physician John Kearsley on 10 March 1774 from William White.
