William Frederick Houston, of Pennsylvania, received an M.D. from the Medical Department of the University of Pennsylvania in 1809. His thesis was on the hip-joint. Houston read an essay on influenza to the Philadelphia Medical Society on 6 Dec. 1807 to receive junior status. He read an essay on the stimulating effects of cold on 11 Feb. and 18 Feb. 1809 to receive honorary status.

Certificates confirm Houston's membership in Philadelphia Medical Society as junior fellow, 1808 Feb. 20, and honorary fellow, 1809 Feb. 20. Includes signatures of Benjamin Rush and Benjamin Smith Barton.
