John R. Diller, Pennsylvania physician, was born circa 1837. He received his M.D. from Jefferson Medical College in 1868 and then opened a private practice in Emmaus, Pa. Diller died from injuries resulting from a kick by a horse on 29 Sept. 1902 at Emmaus.

Notebook documenting John R. Diller's education at Jefferson Medical College, 18671868, and finances of practice in Emmaus, Pa., 18681885. Material from Jefferson (pp. 137) includes notes on J. M. DaCosta on clinical medicine; Samuel D. Gross on surgery; John B. Biddle on materia medica; and Ellerslie Wallace on obstetrics. Also includes treatments and prescriptions. Notebook also contains Diller's financial records including ledger, 1868-1870, and summary monthly cash accounts, 1869-1885. Recipes and undated letter from W. B. Erdman concerning rectal suppository included.
