Dorothy "Dot" Asher graduated cum laude from Bryn Mawr College in 1931 with a degree in biology. During her years at BMc (1927-1931), she was active in a number of extra-curricular ativies, including the Business Board of the College News, the Bates House (July 1929), tutoring, and May Day festivities. Asher was also a member of the swimming team, and participated in water polo. In May 1930, Asher received the Elizabeth S. Shippen Scholarship in Science.

Dorothy Asher graduated from the Philadelphia Girls' School in 1927. From Bryn Mawr, Asher entered the University of Pennsylvania, which awarded her a tuition grant in May 1931. In February 1933, Asher received her MS in Physiological Chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania. From 1933, Asher was employed at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia as a biochemist; and in 1936 she was Assistant in the Department of Pediatric Research at the University of Pennsylvania Medical School, in addition to her work at Children's Hospital.

The Scrapbook of Dorothy Asher (Meyer) '31 comprises the scrapbook kept by Dorothy Asher '31. The scrapbook, which primarily covers the years 1927-1931, consists of newspaper clippings, photographs, and personal memorabilia. The scrapbook provides insight into student life at Bryn Mawr during the late 20s and early 30s.

The collection is comprised of one scrapbook. The scrapbook contains a very large amount of newspaper clippings and photographs, mostly concerning Dorothy Asher and her classmates and their achievements at BMC. The scrapbook contains the typical social memorabilia, calling cards, and professional photos, but also contains a large collection of photographs taken from a personal camera. Most of the material is from Asher's years at Bryn Mawr (1927-1931), but there are also materials from Asher's life in the 1930s, and reunion memorabilia from 1956-1981.

Asher's scrapbook provides an in-depth look into student life during the late 20s and early 30s. The scrapbook might be of particular interest to those researching students in science (Asher was a biology major), May Day, the Philadelphia influenza outbreak of 1929, and reunion memorabilia. Also contains a photograph of Katherine Hepburn as "Pandora" from May Day 1928.

The scrapbook is arranged by type of memorabilia, rather than chronologically.
